In Canada, 1 in 10 patients with non-urgent ailments will wait over 8 hours in an Emergency Department (ED).

A further half of all non-urgent patients will wait over 3 hours.

As a result of the long wait times, patients with non-life-threatening ailments may wish to self-diagnose using online tools (WebMD, ChatGPT, etc.). However, these tools are not based on the advice of medical doctors; rather, they are based on online publishings and may not always be accurate.

Using the expertise of medical professionals, residents, and clinical students, Orca aims to provide a reliable self-diagnosis tool for patients with non-life-threatening injuries or ailments.
